About

We are a friendly, country-style community church helping all people become mature followers of Jesus Christ. Click here to Link to our Doctrinal Statement. We hope as a church to have a impact on the kingdom of God as we see souls come to Christ through our prayers, giving, and personal commitment to Jesus Christ and his great commission.

Cottonwood Creek Community Church began as a Sunday School of the American Sunday School Union , represented by Sunday School Johnston (Uncle Woody), remembered affectionately for illustrated songs and jawbreakers. The group met in an old house on Benjamin Five Crow’s place on Cottonwood Creek until 1945 when “people were almost hanging out the windows”. Ethel Maynard was superintendent. Rolland and Sophia McMillan donated land for the church, and years later Lee Heath added land for the south entrance, basketball court, and some south side parking. In 2001 Wayne & Wanda Hoskins donated the land that is used for a picnic area. The first part of the church building was erected in 1945. The church called Douglas Field as its first pastor in 1947. The church body was organized in January of 1949. Charter members numbered 33. The constitution was adopted in January of 1949.

In the fall of 1950 an addition was made to the building, enlarging the auditorium and adding one room to the southeast corner, where the furnace was installed. In 1955-56, another addition was made to the church building. This includes the kitchen and a room that was used for dinners and receptions, as well as a Sunday school room. Two more Sunday school rooms were added at the west end of the building in 1970. The decision was made to build a new chapel sanctuary in 1974. On Easter Sunday March 30, 1975, the first service was held in the new sanctuary.

A few years ago, we added on to front of our church building to add more bathroom and foyer space.  This provides a more welcoming place for all to enter.  We appreciate all who have given and labored to provide the wonderful facility where the church activities can and do take place.
